Practice Philosophy
We are not your typical Chicago dental office. The foundation of our practice is based around preventing disease as opposed to simply treating it. We measure our success not by the number of cavities we are able to fill, but by the number of cavities we can prevent. This is done through properly educating patients on how to care of their teeth and the teeth of their loved ones. This way we are able to break the cycle of poor oral care that’s passed from one generation to the next. This is our philosophy and this is the motivation behind how we practice.

Our commitment does not end there. In order to make a positive impact on people’s lives, sometimes you must leave your comfort zone. That means taking our message to the streets. Shining Smiles is involved in a variety of community programs, and even has a mobile dental division. This division coordinates with daycares in the local area to teach children as young as two on how to take care of their teeth and provides on site cleanings, and exams, typically at no cost to parents.

A normal dental office in Chicago uses and produces enormous amounts of waste by using paper charts, paper forms, analog films, chemicals, and tons of disposable stationary. At Shining Smiles we’ve gone all digital! No paper charts, no x-ray films, no paper files, and no paper forms. By embracing technology we’ve been able to help reduce over 80% of normal dental office waste.
Not only do we try to recycle our waste, we also try to recycle our water! Most dental offices use machinery that consumes lots of water in order to work. Here at Shining Smiles, we use water recyclers on our machinery which reduces water consumption by 95%!
We use advanced digital X-ray systems that require less radiation. Not only does this expose our patients to less harmful radiation, it also reduces the amount of scatter radiation that we emit into the area around us.
Don’t forget the lights! By using high energy efficiency lighting, we’re able to reduce power usage throughout the office.

X-Ray evaluation: the dentist will review all necessary radiographs to determine any disease, bone loss, tumors, abnormalities, and irregularities

We realize that almost half of our fellow Americans don’t have any type of dental insurance. In order to help those who are in need but don’t have any insurance to help with the cost, we started our Smiles Card program. This is a program for uninsured individuals that helps cut their out of pocket expenses by 25%. The Smiles Program also promotes them regularly seeing a dentist by including free cleanings and exams. This program has been wildly successful and we’ve even had patients travel from nearby states to take advantage of our services! We don’t want to see anyone go untreated due to finances and that is why we try our best to make dental care affordable.

Our Mobile Division
(Taking dentistry to the people)
The number one chronic illness that affects children in the U.S. is not cancer or diabetes, its tooth decay! Our goal is to help reduce these numbers. Proper oral health education is the only way we can stop the cycle of bad habits that cause disease. Instead of waiting for patients to walk in through our doors, we’ve decided to take our message directly to those who need it most. Our mobile dental division partners up with the many public and private schools in our communities to raise oral health awareness and provide much needed dental services. Our dentists in Chicago go onsite to schools and pre-schools and provide age tailored presentations to help children build good habits. Presenting this Information in the familiar surrounding of their classroom and having their peers by their sides makes this educational experience fun and more impactful. Our caring dentists then perform visual exams, cleanings, fluoride varnishes, and sealants on site! Because we work with the state, private and public insurance companies, our program costs parents little to nothing out of pocket. Ninety percent of tooth decay is preventable and our program at Shining Smiles works tirelessly to eliminate this outrageous statistic.
